set up ; set out ; set off ; set about

set up 建立政權(quán)、組織、國家等。

例如：The government has set up a working party to look intothe problem of drug abuse.政府已成立工作組調(diào)查毒品泛濫問題。

set out 出發(fā)；動(dòng)身。

例如：They set out for Beijing yesterday.他們昨天動(dòng)身去北京。（此種情況下out可用off替換）。

set out to do sth.開始做某事。

例如：She set out to break the world land speed record.她決心打破陸上速度的世界紀(jì)錄。

set off使（地雷、炸彈）等爆炸。

例如：Do be careful with those fireworks; the slightest sparkcould set them off.

要格外小心這些煙火，稍有火星就會(huì)引起爆炸。

set sb.off doing sth.使某人開始干某事。

例如：  Her imitationsalways set us off laughing.她模仿別人的動(dòng)作，每次都把我們逗笑。

set about用于set about sth.／doing sth.結(jié)構(gòu)中，表示開始做某事，著手干某事。

例如：The new government must set about finding solutions tothe country's economic problems.

新政府必須立即找出解決國家經(jīng)濟(jì)問題的辦法。
